Our philosophy

We built Inkweaver to turn screenplays into stories people can experience, without asking writers and artists to give up the tools they know or the rights to their work.

Every creator has their own tools, workflows, and best practices. Inkweaver doesn’t ask you to leave any of that behind. You keep working in the tools you know, and Inkweaver puts the pieces together.

New to all of this? That’s fine too. Inkweaver is built around professional production pipelines, so you’ll learn good habits from the start.

Making a visual novel is a big commitment, and switching tools halfway through is expensive. With Inkweaver, your work stays in the formats your craft already uses: Fountain or Final Draft screenplays, PSD artwork, and audio from your DAW.

If you decide Inkweaver isn’t the right fit, you still have all of it, ready to take to another tool.

Inkweaver is free to use, with no subscription fees and no royalties. We want it to cost nothing to try, so anyone with a story can start telling it.

If you publish a novel on your own, we don’t claim any rights to it. You can share it however you like.

When we co-produce a novel, we offer financial support, technical resources, and hands-on help with the hardest parts of production. The story stays with the people who made it, and our terms are written to keep it that way.

If you’re a screenwriter, your screenplay stays yours. You keep its copyright, unencumbered, and every adaptation right: film, television, print, stage, and sequels. We license only the playable edition of your story.

Our terms are the same for every partner, and they’re written to pass your agent’s review:

  • You’re paid a real fee. Any share of the novel’s earnings comes on top of your fee, never in place of it.
  • Artists are paid market rates, on delivery.
  • Your rights come back to you. If the novel stays out of distribution for too long, the rights return to you automatically.
  • Your terms can’t get worse. Once you sign, the terms can’t be changed against you, even if Inkweaver is sold.

Every novel we make, commission, co-produce, or publish is made by people. No generative AI is used in its writing, artwork, music, or voice acting.

Inkweaver builds each novel from the team’s own working files, and those files show how every piece was made. Our approach to AI explains where we draw the line, and how we check the work.
