Scriptwriter – Short-Form Visual Novel

Location: Remote
Position Type: Monthly Retainer (Hourly Rate × Monthly Capacity)

Inkweaver Studio is a visual novel creation tool — and we’re using it to craft our flagship novel. This is your chance to help define the voice, structure, and mood of the story that will set the standard for the Inkweaver ecosystem.

We’re looking for a writer eager to grow their craft, collaborate, and create a polished, production-ready script. This is a 3-6 month retainer role with the possibility of extension.

What You’ll Do

You’ll be responsible for the script that drives the story forward:

  • Dialogue-Focused Scenes: Character interactions as the primary narrative engine.
  • Structural Clarity: A well-paced script supporting mood, flow, and readability.
  • Technical Format: Writing in standard screenplay format, either as .txt or directly in Inkweaver Studio.

Collaboration & Narrative Impact

While major story beats are defined, we’re looking for a collaborator who will refine pacing, dialogue, and thematic clarity. We’re leaning into a Kishōtenketsu structure — prioritizing atmosphere, development, and shifts in perspective over conflict-driven drama.

Writers who enjoy questioning assumptions, offering improvements, and polishing material to its strongest possible form will thrive here.

Who You Are

  • Atmospheric & Intimate: Able to evoke mood, quiet tension, and liminal spaces.
  • Naturalistic Dialogue: Grounded, human conversations that avoid heavy genre tropes.
  • First-Person Perspective: Skilled with internal voice and subjective narration.

Experience with visual novels, game writing, or playwriting is a plus — but not required. What matters most is creativity, sensitivity, and mastery of narrative craft.
